SURFING & WATER SPORTS
Lake and surf activities in North Devon
Devon's known for many things, perhaps the hippest and most happening right now is our epic surfing rep. So hang ten this holiday - catch a wild wave on Woolacombe beach, known for being one of the best in the UK for beginners and pros. If an easier entry to this hip sport is more your thing, then the incredible Wavesurfer at Twitchen House has your name on it. Perhaps try out standup paddleboarding or kayak activities on the activities lake at Woolacombe Bay, you'll be under the watchful eye of our trained coaches and with no current or tide it's an easier entry to these on-trend water sport adventures. Saltwater really runs through us here.
The beach really steals the show on any Woolacombe holiday - it’s perfectly placed for gorgeous coastal walks and just beckons for family fun. Why not try some surfing lessons, whether you are a complete beginner or want to improve it would be rude to not take advantage of the perfect conditions the bay has to offer. Make note of the tide times to maximise your day out - after all who doesn't want to spend more time at the beach?
Get set to get very wet
Why it's totally radical, man?
Wavesurfer surfing simulator
Always fancied giving surfing a go but worried about getting in the sea? Or not sure you can guarantee the weather conditions will be just right? Perhaps you're more pro than beginner but want to hone your skills in the perfect setting? Simple, you make your own wave and that's where the Wavesurfer at Twitchen House comes in.
Wavesurfer is a surfing simulator with a constant wave flow so it gives you the chance to body board minus the ocean but with all the wipeouts! We'll kit you up with wet suits and boards, give you a demo and teach you a few cool trips so whether it's your first time surfing or you're a real pro, you'll find it totally radical man. It's covered so you can surf whatever the weather and whatever the conditions at sea. Not a daredevil type? Grab a cool drink, a seat and catch the spills.

Did you know... this amazing feat of engineering shoots 60,000 litres of water over it's curved, padded surface every minute. It means if you're aged 8 to 80 and beyond you can have a go at surfing even if the surf at sea isn't quite right - even Britain's best beach has it's less good days. And because it's got a sliding roof and heated to 28-degrees like the Caribbean Sea it really is all-weather action guaranteed.
