Sunny surf days at Woolacombe Beach

There’s no better place to be when the sun’s out than the beach. Award-winning Woolacombe Beach is widely-recognised as one of the UK best beaches and is massively popular with surfers and families.

If the Woolacombe weather forecast is looking good, make the most of it with a day spent on the sand. Pack all of your beach essentials and relax in the sunshine. If you’re after a little bit more of an adventure, why not hire a surfboard and try your luck at catching some waves too. At Surf Village in Woolacombe Bay we offer surf kit rentals for all members of the family when you stay in one of the lodges so everyone can get stuck in.

Hide from the rain in Mortehoe

Who says rain has to ruin the fun? Rainy days in Woolacombe are an invitation to uncover all of the indoor treasures the area has to offer. Pop along the coast to Mortehoe and explore its local museum filled with fascinating exhibits about the village’s interesting history of smuggling and wrecking.

After soaking up all of that history, get cosy with a drink at The Ship Aground and enjoy locally-sourced fish and chips from Mortehoe Fish & Chip Shop.

Enjoy a sunset meal in North Devon

What better way to close out the day than an authentic Sri-Lankan curry on the beach! Barricane Beach is a short walk from the main beach in Woolacombe and is often less crowded too. The Barricane Beach cafe is open from 5-7pm most days (as long as there’s no rain forecast) and offers a range of traditional curries, including vegetarian and vegan options. Bring along a chair or blanket, set up your spot on the beach and when the bell rings, head on over to grab yourself a curry, no booking necessary.
