Recommends Woolacombe as "a broad golden sandy beach backed by sand dunes… a safe bathing beach with good surfing conditions, an ideal family beach in every way".

The Blue Flag standard is only given to those beaches with the highest quality bathing water, good management, cleanliness and safety. Speedboats and jet skis are prohibited, thereby offering superb facilities for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, sailing and sea canoeing. Woolacombe beach is also a popular venue for the exciting new sport of kite surfing.
